Week 2 Waiver Wire/Free Agent Targets

Week 2 Waiver Adds

Quarterbacks:

Jameis Winston: Winston was uber efficient throwing for 5 TDs in the rout of the Packers. He is a good streaming option who could become a low end QB1 mainstay as he gets the Panthers in Week 2.

Jared Goff: Goff lit it up in comeback mode Sunday. I see the Packers bouncing back and Goff should find himself in a similar situation throughout the year. Goff will be a play who’s stats are padded by garbage time points on most weeks.

Taylor Heinicke: Fitz is out for 6-8 weeks. It is his show now and WFT is still loaded with talent. If Gibson can’t go Thursday on the short week, they will be forced to rely on the passing game.

RB:

Latavius Murray: If he is available on any waiver wire he is a MUST add. Ty’Son looked awful on MNF and by the end of the game Latavius took over the backfield. Looking at the box score it seemed Williams played well but he did not. Murray ended up with more carries by the end. It was cemented by a major missed block by Ty’son in overtime. He fumbled multiple read option handoffs and looked overwhelmed by any structure. I wouldn’t be shocked if Lev Bell overtakes the change of pace role from Ty’son within a few weeks.

James White: Drew 7 targets Week 1 catching 6 of them. I expect him to become a favorite for Mac Jones.

Kenny Gainwell: Completely owned the 1B snaps behind Sanders.

Elijah Mitchell: Mitchell won the backfield for Week 1. But Week 1 is over. He is worth a pick up but he will be very popular. He didn’t win this job overall just yet. He will get the first look in Week 2. Hasty also played very well and Sermon will be active.

JaMycal Hasty: Mostert is down for 8+ weeks and reports are now that Michell and Hasty outperformed Sermon in camp. It was Hasty who entered Week 1 as the #2 option behind Mostert before Mitchell went off.

Deejay Dallas, Penny is out for 2-6 weeks. Dallas is now a premium cuff to Carson.

Noteables: Lev Bell, Tony Jones Jr., Damien Williams, Carlos Hyde,

Wide Receiver:

Sterling Shepard: Very well could be the #1 in NY. I’m not necessarily high on Golladay and Shepard stole the show Week 1.

Cole Beasley: Saw 13 targets Week 1. Clearly still the #2 behind Diggs.

Hunter Renfroe: The clear #2 option behind Waller. Always seems to find a way to get it done. This one is geared more to Full PPR.

Christian Kirk: Kirk cemented his spot as the WR2 in Arizona.

KJ Hamler/Tim Patrick: Hamler and Patrick will benefit with Jeudy missing an extended period of time. Both are good WRs in their own right. I prefer Hamler due to his speed and big play ability. Patrick is no slouch and would start as the WR2 on a lot of teams throughout the NFL.

Cedrick Wilson: Gallup will be out 3-5 weeks. Wilson is the clear WR3 until Gallup returns in this high volume passing attack.

Noteables: Bryan Edwards, DeVante Parker, Terrace Marshall, Rondale Moore, Elijah Moore

Tight End:

Jared Cook: Again nothing sexy about Cook but he will clearly be involved in the weekly Chargers game plan. Got 8 targets Week 1. I don’t expect this to be a weekly thing as Ekeler didn’t even see 1 and TE/RB targets are directly correlated.

Juwan Johnson: Johnson played well in his first game as an NFL TE. A converted WR, he is a mis-match across the formation. If there was a TE this year who could pop and become the undrafted guy who sticks, it’s Johnson. Targets are available.

Dalton Schultz: If he is available on your waiver wire and need a TE, Schultz was clearly better than Jarwin Week 1 pulling in all 6 targets for 45 yards. With Gallup down, he should see consistent work.

Defense/Special Teams:

Cleveland Browns: Draw Texans – pick up if by the off chance they are available.

Chicago Bears

Seattle Seahawks

Miami Dolphins

New Orleans Saints
