Hockey Betting Explained
Here we will explain the different types of hockey bets. We will explain what they mean, how they are scored, and how they are graded.
Money Line: This will be a bet on which team will win outright. There are three types of bets for total goals; overtime included, and regulation only, and 3-way bets.
Puck Line: This is a bet on the spread in the game. There are two types of bets for total goals; overtime included, and regulation only.
Total Goals: This is a bet on how many combined goals there will be in the game. There are two types of bets for total goals; overtime included, and regulation only.
Regulation Only: This is a bet on only the first 60 minutes of the game. Overtime is not included.
Overtime Included: When your bet includes the full amount of time in the game. This includes overtime and the shootout.
3-Way- This is a regulation only bet that includes betting the game will be tied and go into overtime.
Double Chance- You are betting on two of the three outcomes in the game between Team A, Team B, and tie.
Next Goal: You are betting on which team will score the next goal in the game
Team Totals: You are betting on how many goals just that team will score.
Correct Score: You are betting on the exact final score of the game.
No goal first 5 minutes: This will be a bet on whether or not a goal will be scored within the first 5 minutes of the game.
Interval Winner: You are betting on a specific period of time during the game.
Both teams to score (BTTS): You are betting that both teams will score the specified amount of goals in the offered play.
Periods: This is a bet on each specific period. You can bet on total goals or sides for each period.
No goal first 10 minutes: This will be a bet on whether or not a goal will be scored within the first 10 minutes of the game.
Props:
First Goal Scorer: This is a bet on who will score the first goal of the game.
Last Goal Scorer: This is a bet on who will score the last goal of the game.
Anytime Scorer/Goal Scorer: This is a bet on who will score a goal at any time of the game.
To score 2+ goals: This is a bet on if a player will score two or more goals in the game.
To score 3+ goals: This is a bet on if a player will score three or more goals in the game.
Points: This is a bet on whether or not a player will score a goal or earn an assist in the game.
2+ points: This is a bet on whether or not a player will score two or more points in the game.
3+ points: This is a bet on whether or not a player will score three or more points in the game.
Shots: This is a bet on how many registered shots a player has in the game. A shot is counted when they score a goal or their shot is saved by the goaltender. If a shot hits the post or does not touch the goalie it is not considered a shot.
Power Play Points: This is a bet on whether or not a player will score a goal or record an assist on a goal scored on the power play.
Blocked Shots: This is a bet on whether or not a player blocks an opposing player’s shot from getting to the net.
Saves: This is a bet on how many saves the goaltender makes in the game.
Shutout: This is a bet on whether or not a goalie does not give up a goal. The goaltender must not give up a goal and play the full time of the game to earn the shutout statistic.
